The finished quilt will be made almost entirely of half-inch squares; four thousand, six hundred and eight of them to be precise. I'm getting there.

Behind the scenes
Maybe because I'm such a slow worker I occasionally feel hesitant to show too much of a work in progress, like I don't want to reveal it until it's done! But I thought I should give a little peak of some of the stuff that's going on behind the scenes. Do you ever sometimes think that the back of your piecing is strangely beautiful, however roughly finished?

Wow is all I can say. This will be some quilt! I really like the little pops of golden yellow!
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness! A whole quilt of 1/4" squares?!? Are you mad?! It will be amazing & awe inspiring. Can't wait to see the finish...!

ReplyDeleteWow oh Wow!! The back is beautiful (as is the front). Thousands of 1/2" squares!!!! You are amazing.....I bow down before you in awe!!!!
ReplyDeleteWow, it's no wonder work on that is somewhat slow! It's beautiful already (front and back) and will be amazing when it's done. I'm mostly in awe of how much ironing of seams you'll have to do - that would be what would dive me potty. Are you planning on sticking to this colour scheme throughout or will it vary?
ReplyDeleteYou are mad. But I know it will look stunning!
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness! This is fabulous Catherine! You have some incredible tenacity in completing this project!
ReplyDeleteSometimes things reach a point where you think 'that's just crazy', but, if you keep on going, those same things reach a point where you think 'now that's super crazy..... AWESOME!'. Go for it, Catherine, reach that crazy goal! It's looking amazing already.
ReplyDeleteWOW! Just that little bit is amazing

Beautiful both front and back! What a challenge you have set yourself - can't wait to see the progress.
ReplyDeleteI'm saying WOW too.
ReplyDeleteAs a non-quilter, I love seeing this! The back is indeed strangely beautiful and the finished quilt will no doubt be spectacular!
ReplyDeleteThis is amazing, Catherine. Yes yes yes on all your questions, but now I have one for you: how do you keep the tiny squares from getting distorted? That's often the trouble I have with wee pieces, and wondered if you had any tricks to share.

Looks amazingly beautiful! I always love also the backside! x Teje
