Still fidgeting with the New York beauty. I used a patterned print to bind it all the way round, which is new for me. I did try a neutral binding but it looked peelly-wally. I'm not too sure about this one either. I thought it picked up the colours, but maybe red would be better. Can I be bothered?
I will try to take a better picture once I'm sure it's finished, one way or the other. Of course this is what minis are for.
He's also lying on a WIP, but he's 17, I don't mind.
Nice! Love the contrast with the low volume frame. I like the way the binding picks up the blues and other colours in the pointy bits (which I'm sure actually have a better name...) Otherwise the red might seem to be the main colour. But red would be lovely and bold and bright too.
ReplyDeleteWhat is it with cats and sewing! And I think your binding looks great.
ReplyDeleteOh wow it looks lovely Katherine! And what a better use for it than a pillow for your dear cat. Bless him.
ReplyDeleteI really like the background fabric you used for your blocks.

I think that the binding looks great!
ReplyDeletehahahahaha! Cats crack me up!
ReplyDeleteit is definitely finished, and looks fantastic. I love the binding fabric you chose - not too overwhelmingly bright, but adds just the right extra amount of colour :-)
ReplyDeleteI think that binding goes great with the low volume. Like you say, one gives a cat a break at 17!!! :)
ReplyDeleteAnd I think your lovely cat goes well with the miniquilt -
ReplyDeleteI think your cat is telling you that the binding is lovely as it is!
ReplyDeleteHi Catherine,
ReplyDeleteSomehow I missed that you were working on a NY Beauty.
I like the binding as is. So does your beautiful tuxedo kitty!

Fabulous mini, what a great design!
ReplyDeleteLovely mini, Catherine! I like the choice of binding, it makes the blues pop up and gives it a cool feel. Red would be nice too and would make it warmer. But I couldn't be bothered redoing it. The cat has a great excuse - his age. :-)
ReplyDeleteI love this New York beauty with its vibrant colours and "he" knows well where to lie - where it is cosy. ...and the rim is very much ok, just right and fitting.
ReplyDeleteI think the binding looks great. It was a good choice and highlights the bright wonky centre.
