Freehand NY Beauty

Still fidgeting with the New York beauty. I used a patterned print to bind it all the way round, which is new for me.  I did try a neutral binding but it looked peelly-wally.  I'm not too sure about this one either.  I thought it picked up the colours, but maybe red would be better.  Can I be bothered?

I will try to take a better picture once I'm sure it's finished, one way or the other.  Of course this is what minis are for.

 He's also lying on a WIP, but he's 17, I don't mind.

  1. Nice! Love the contrast with the low volume frame. I like the way the binding picks up the blues and other colours in the pointy bits (which I'm sure actually have a better name...) Otherwise the red might seem to be the main colour. But red would be lovely and bold and bright too.

  3. Oh wow it looks lovely Katherine! And what a better use for it than a pillow for your dear cat. Bless him.

  7. it is definitely finished, and looks fantastic. I love the binding fabric you chose - not too overwhelmingly bright, but adds just the right extra amount of colour :-)

  8. I think that binding goes great with the low volume. Like you say, one gives a cat a break at 17!!! :)

  11. Hi Catherine,
Somehow I missed that you were working on a NY Beauty.
I like the binding as is. So does your beautiful tuxedo kitty!

  13. Lovely mini, Catherine! I like the choice of binding, it makes the blues pop up and gives it a cool feel. Red would be nice too and would make it warmer. But I couldn't be bothered redoing it. The cat has a great excuse - his age. :-)

  14. I love this New York beauty with its vibrant colours and "he" knows well where to lie - where it is cosy. ...and the rim is very much ok, just right and fitting.
