Thank you for the encouraging words after my last post which were so appreciated. Progress is creeping on so I'm feeling a bit more cheerful, and after the good luck in scoring a bargain piece of batting in just the size needed, I also discovered that without any planning whatsoever the quilt is exactly as wide as the beloved Ikea nummer fabric. Hooray.
I have managed to get it basted, and after a few false starts with machine quilting which just didn't give the sort of organic effect I want as background to the leaves I'm laboriously hand quilting it.
This is being done in fits and starts between work and as usual any attempt at domesticity has fallen by the wayside.
Love, love your leaves Catherine. The gradation of colour is gorgeous. They look lovely on the dark background and the backing fabric is wonderful. I must also say, I love the artwork on your walls!!

DeleteThe quilt looks great! The oakshots will really make it shimmer. I'm so impressed that you are hand quilting it. Domesticity never ranks high at our place unless the in laws are coming over!

ReplyDeleteI agree with Emily, hand quilting has a much nicer quality than machine stitching and will work perfectly with your leaves. I wouldn't worry about your lack of domesticity, our bottle collection will soon need its own room.
